National Leader Discovers Innovative Program in 9 LI School Districts

These programs are effective for all students, regardless of academic achievement, and answer the question “why do I have to learn this?”.  Connections to Long Island colleges and companies while still in high school give students an advantage for admissions and career opportunities.  The institutions that are currently the Long Island thought leaders include: Bridgehampton, Central Islip and East Islip(Green Technology Academies), Glen Cove(STEM), Massapequa (Healthcare), Middle Country and William Floyd(Business Services), Wantagh(Global Business) and Wyandanch(Information Technology).  Wantagh schools have already partnered with Adelphi University for their Global Business Academy, while East and Central Islip have partnered with Dowling College for their Green Technology Academies.

LI Works priority continues to be the support and expansion of this effort as a model for Long Island, and New York State.

About LI Works – The Long Island Works Coalition is Long Island’s first comprehensive effort to forge collaborative working relationships between employers and the educational community.
