Megan's Testimonial about the East Islip Green Academy
A student shares her thoughts about the East Islip Green Academy program
The Canoe Trip:
We went on the canoe trip on Thursday,October 16. I thought that the canoe trip was a wonderful trip. We had about 30 students go for a cruise on the Nissaquague River. It seemed like forever to go up the river, the wind was going against us which just made it that much harder. I believe the river was about 3 miles long. Which means a lot of paddling and hard work. Luck was on our side that day because the weather was gorgeous. Before we set off on the river News 12 came and interviewed us. I thought that was a great thing because that way a lot more people found out about the program and what our goals are. The whole point of the Career Academy is to help improve our environment. I strongly believe that everyone learns a lot more if they are out in the world as opposed to sitting in a classroom. That was the significance of the canoe trip. Plus it was really fun. The trip helped us to get out there and just explore.
