S.M.A.R.T. EDUCATION ON LONG ISLAND

“Students will have the opportunity to see and understand how classroom curriculum connects to what adults do on their jobs.  Students will be able to answer the questions ‘why do I need to learn this’ and ‘where will I use this information.” stated LI Works Executive Director Cheryl Davidson.

 

Booth presenters will also give the students an overview of their businesses, their job descriptions and their own career paths.  Booth hosts include Motorola, Inc., Adelphi University, Dowling College, OSI Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Commerce Bank, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Guide Dog Foundation, Brookhaven National Laboratory, L.I. Science Museum, Cradle of Aviation Museum, Long Island Blood Services, Island Drafting and Technical Institute, Best Buy, FedEx New York State Department of Education Professional Services, and MetLife.   

 

The motivational welcome address will be given by Sophia Hall, the Long Island reporter for WCBS radio and an outstanding member of our community.  Ms Hall is committed to many diverse organizations such as Winthrop University’s Cancer Center for Kids, the American Heart Association & the Huntington Boys & Girls Club. Based upon community service and her many achievements, she was recently crowned 2007 Ms. United States Woman.
